Art Looks Good on You! Reston Mural

Located in Reston, Virginia, Art Looks Good on You! is inspired by the thriving arts community in Reston and its growing public art collection. The mural was commissioned by Public Arts Reston, Boston Properties and the Tephra Institute of Contemporary Art (Tephra ICA) to transform a blank construction wall at Reston Town Center during the Tephra ICA Festival, May 20–24, 2022.

Our goal was to create both a memorable festival experience as well as an engaging work of art for all to enjoy at Reston Town Center well beyond the 3-day event.

Sagetopia developed a unique abstract design that would allow festival attendees to watch the mural take shape as an important part of the artistic process, one that includes both detailed brushwork and hand-carved stamps. As the Sagetopia team finished the mural live at the event, festival attendees were encouraged to engage with the artists, take photos with the mural, and make their own stamped “mini-murals” in the Public Art Reston festival booth.
